NOT ME! MONDAY

Click on the button above to visit MckMama's blog and learn more about NOT ME Monday!

*I did NOT just finish off a second (rather large) bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal for breakfast. I make much better choices for breakfast. And I do NOT feel overly-stuffed and miserable as I type this morning...

*I did NOT get extremely angry last night in the deli department at the grocery store. And I most certainly did NOT ask to see the manager at customer service because I was so mad. I'm much more docile than that and just let things roll off my back...

*I did NOT get extremely anxious at Target yesterday when Gib and Jessica started looking at strollers and car seats for Dumplin'. I did NOT want to turn and run the other way. And I did NOT firmly proclaim that if we buy one before he is born, we will absolutely keep it in the box and save the receipt until after he is here...

*I did NOT break down and buy a maternity support belt this past week. I did NOT dread going into the maternity store, and once I was there, I definitely did NOT want to turn right around and leave. I did NOT get disgusted at myself trying on maternity swimsuits and it did NOT put me in a foul mood the rest of the day. I also did NOT snap at the cashier when I told her why I didn't want to be on the mailing lists. I did NOT feel terribly guilty and did NOT then start asking her about her current pregnancy.

*I did NOT make time the last two weeks (when the girls were not around) to catch up on the eight episodes of Grey's Anatomy that I had DVR'd. I do NOT watch that type of smut on television. And I definitely did NOT cry at something in every. single. episode. NOT ME!

*I did NOT rest on Friday afternoon and did NOT fall asleep! (I never usually sleep during the day) I did NOT tell both girls to play or read quietly in their rooms. When I woke up, Jessica did NOT come in to my room and tell me that I needed to come see what they (she and Emma Grace) had done. To my very surprised eyes, I did NOT sleep through them rearranging Jessica's room...the two of them did NOT move Jessica's full-size, solid wood, sleigh bed from one wall to another...and her reading chair...and her nightstand...and her lamp. My children would never disobey me like that. Under those circumstances, I was NOT proud of them and NOT thankful that they didn't hurt themselves!

*I do NOT plan to get an ICEE after I get my hair done later this morning! I have NOT been craving them, and I did NOT stop someone with an ICEE cup the other day to ask them where in the world they got one around here. I do NOT have fond memories of getting one every time I would go to Kmart with my parents as a child. My taste buds are NOT in overdrive just thinking about it!

*I did NOT just about knock over a woman walking up the aisle leaving church yesterday. My balance is great, and I would NEVER bump into someone so hard that it would make them lose their balance. Fortunately there were chairs for her to catch herself on...I was NOT embarrassed at all!!!

*Speaking of church, I did NOT question if we were really in church yesterday. After our praise and worship band rocked out (literally), we did NOT have a spunky young woman sing Jordin Sparks' song called Battlefield. Her performance did NOT bring down the house when she was finished, and it did NOT set the mood for our sermon on marriage yesterday. Our church is NOT cool that way!

*I was NOT proud of my girls while shopping yesterday. Jessica desperately needed some shorts and shirts that fit her, and of course I had to buy Emma Grace at least one outfit. They started looking at bathing suits but we already had enough items to take all of our clothes budget for this month. They did NOT surprise me and happily oblige when I told them we had to wait for swimsuits until after Daddy gets paid the end of this month and our clothes budget gets more money. My heart did NOT beam with delight that they are learning the importance of spending only what we have and being content with that.

NOT ME! MONDAY

I seriously have four different posts brewing in this here noggin' of mine. But instead of going deep and sharing pics and details of Dumplin', Spring Break and Easter, I decided a few minutes ago that I would jump into a "Not Me Monday" post. Hop over to MckMama's blog , or click the button above, if you want details of how you can participate, too. (I'm not sure she will have a link-up today since she's on vacation, but I'm doing one anyway!)

~~~I did NOT announce to my sweet blog readers that I'm pregnant again, and since then a week has passed by with no other posts on the subject. Nope! I'm definitely more considerate than that!
~~~I did NOT back into my husband's car for the second time last week while he was home for Spring Break. I did NOT tell him good-bye and proceed to mesh the colors of our bumpers. I did NOT slam on my brakes, put my hands on my head and shout, "Oh no, I did it again". And I most certainly did NOT do it with both of my children in the car along with our sweet friend from next door. NOT ME!

~~~I also did NOT have lunch at my favorite mexican restaurant with a friend of mine last week and was so busy running my mouth that I forgot to get Emma Grace from school. I did NOT call my husband in a panic since he was home with the pick-up card for carpool and tell him to go get her right away. His response to my call was NOT "Oh crap!" We are much more responsible parents than that! Thanks to her Daddy, she was picked up on time and never knew that we almost forgot her...WHEW!
~~~I did NOT have breakfast with one of my "besties" Saturday morning on her last day in town. I most certainly did NOT eat every bite of my Momma's French Toast Breakfast at Cracker Barrel along with my side order of grits. NOT ME! I'm healthier than that you know...

~~~I did NOT do the ugly cry in church yesterday in response to the conclusion of our sermon. I did NOT sniffle and snort and try to keep myself from hyperventilating until we were dismissed. I did NOT spend the rest of the day lamenting over it, and I definitely did NOT consider staying home from small group last night because of the topic we were discussing. I'm much stronger than that.
~~~I did NOT witness my husband dump Jessica head first into a huge cardboard box filled with 70% off stuffed Easter animals last night at Kroger. I did NOT stand there and laugh with them while I watched Jessica struggle to get herself out. NOPE! I would reprimand them and give Jessica a helping hand for sure!

~~~I did NOT consider cutting the feet out of a pair of tights to make them footless for Jessica to wear under a skirt to a dance at her school Friday night. I would definitely plan ahead and buy her proper footless tights. However, she spared me the difficult decision when she tried on the tights because the crotch didn't go much past her knees. Thankfully she decided to wear jeans.
I guess that's about all that I've NOT been up to! I promise to post more about Dumplin' soon!
NOT ME! MONDAY
Today is a great day for me to join in on NOT ME! MONDAY from MckMama's blog. I've only done this once before. But I've NOT been up to much lately and there's NOT much to share.
Ahem.
I did not get Jessica's one and only pair of jeans out of the bottom of her dirty clothes basket and fluff them in the dryer yesterday morning for church. I keep up with my laundry much better than that, and we never wear things more than once. Nope, not us!
I did not kindly ask make my sweet husband blow up 58 balloons for a game we played at Emma Grace's birthday party yesterday. I would never ask someone to blow so much hot air at once! Especially not someone whom I love so much! Not me!
I did not use regular snap-n-seal bags and write names on them for the girls' candy from the party yesterday. I have waaay more class than that. I would definitely remember to buy cute cello bags for such an occasion.
I most certainly did not feed my family bean dip with chips for dinner Saturday night. Nope. We eat much healthier meals than that, complete with a serving from each food group.
I did not crack some eggs that I needed to make cupcakes for Emma Grace's class tomorrow when I rushed by the store to get them on my way to pick her up from school. I did not have the bag on my wrist when I jerked open the door to get in. Nope. I'm much more careful than that!
I did not waste the only day on my calendar that had not one thing written on it. Nope. I would be much more productive with my time and not waste the morning away by catching up on Grey's Anatomy episodes. Not me!
I did not trade in the gentle leader I bought for Buddy for a prong collar yesterday. I would never think of using anything like that on my sweet puppy who loves to greet people and walk nicely pull me around the neighborhood and give me whiplash (and pull Jessica straight down on her knees). Nope. Not me!
Those are just a few thing I have NOT been up to lately! I'm sure there are more...I just can't remember them right now!
Tonya
Not Me!
I've always wanted to try this, so here goes. There's a first time for everything, right?
Not Me! Monday was created by MckMama to admit, and own up to, some of our imperfections and those things you certainly would never do...nope, not you!
Or me.
1. I most certainly did not use mismatched bedding on the twin bed upstairs for our guest this past week. I would never do that. I would most definitely go against what Dave Ramsey teaches and spend money that is not in our budget to buy matching bedding, just for appearance sake.
2. I did not make a mattress pad from a folded queen size sheet, and cover it with a twin sheet, because I did not have one for that mattress. That would be terrible. Our guest would certainly not be comfortable on that.
3. I am always very careful in the kitchen when I cook. I absolutely did not try to pick up an iron skillet with my bare hand after cooking cornbread in it at 450 degrees. That would be careless and just plain ridiculous.
4. I would never buy my husband a pair of fleece lounge pants for Christmas and then just give them to him. I would definitely wrap them properly and put them under the tree until Christmas day.
5. I absolutely did not leave the dishes, or my kitchen, untouched from Friday night until this afternoon. Only someone who doesn't care about the appearance of their kitchen would do that. Most definitely not me!
6. I did not spend all of Sunday afternoon snuggled up under a blanket watching episode after episode of Hoarders while my children played upstairs in the bonus room with a friend. I am much more attentive to them and would most certainly be more productive!
7. My feet never get cold. So there's no reason that on said afternoon that I heated a rice pack in the microwave, put it on my feet and tried to get them warm. Isn't that what socks are for?
8. I always follow the rules of etiquette, so I most definitely did not forget to have Emma Grace make a birthday card for her friend's present that I delivered last week. I would never forget something so important, even if Emma Grace did have the flu.
9. I did not make Emma Grace stay in the pants she spilled sweet tea all over yesterday after church. That would be mean, especially considering how cold it was here. I always keep an extra change of clothes for my children, even at ages 6 and 10, in my car. (HA!)
10. And lastly I did not take these cheesy before and after photos of myself today because I was SO excited to get my hair cut and colored. Only a goof ball would even think of doing that. Not me!
***Edited: I realized that blogger puts the first picture in a post on other people's blogs and on blogger dashboard. I could NOT have the before picture plastered all over the place. So here's the "after" picture first...
And here are the before pictures...
(See how white-headed I am? A disgrace at 37 years of age, I must say. Thank God for Casey and color!)
So there you have it! My first Not Me! Monday post. It was actually very fun! Maybe I'll do it again soon...
Love,
Tonya
