Suggestions Please...

So...I've made a list of questions and things to talk to Dr. Joe about tomorrow. I'm just wondering if any of you, who have been in my shoes, have suggestions for me to ask. All of our brains put together are certainly much better than my one! Remember, we didn't do an autopsy on Grady, but all blood work came back normal, 5 ultrasounds (3 of those high-risk) showed a perfectly healthy, big-for-his-gestation baby. There was no obvious cord accident upon delivery, and the cord and placenta came back normal from pathology. I now have two classical incisions on my uterus, one from him and one from Emma Grace. That is a big concern I have about the risk of uterine rupture. Let me know your thoughts/suggestions, PLEASE!

The other two aren't as heavy, thank goodness!

First of all, do you have any funny, light-hearted, good books to suggest for me to read at the beach? I have read my share of books on stillbirth and grief. I am ready for something different...something that will make me laugh out loud! If you don't have anything that is that funny, then just a good read, with not much tragedy or heartache, and preferably fiction.

We are heading to Panama City Beach, FL. It has been years since we've been. Any good restaurants you can recommend? We will mostly be eating in our condo but plan to go out to dinner twice and for lunch once. I'm hoping when I get down there I can look around for some "kids eat free" nights. Let me know if you have any favorites there!

Feel free to leave me a comment or send me an email - my email address is on my left side bar. Thanks SO much!!!

And, just for fun, here are a few pictures from Father's Day. Because posts are much more fun with pictures than without! Don't you think?!?!

This year, Gib made me promise that I wouldn't buy him any gifts. So, us three girls each made him a card. Then we posed for some funny pictures. Jessica started the "posing" on the back of the sofa. It wasn't such a pretty sight for me to get off. In fact, Gib had to get up, and I had to roll forward onto the sofa which made for a good laugh. I'm just not as young as I used to be!!! (or as small!)

SIGH.

Love,
Tonya

  1. I wish I had some suggestions on any of those topics you listed, but I don't. Good luck with your doctor's appt tomorrow, and I hope you have a great time on your vacation!

  2. Loved the picture of you laying on the couch - I wish I could have seen you ROLL OFF!

I don't know of any good, easy read books - I pretty much only read biographies and true stories. I've read some light hearted fiction books, but I can't remember any of them right now. If I think of one, I'll certainly let you know.

I hope you'll have a marvelous, relaxing time on the beach. Sounds glorious!
    Have a beautiful day.

  3. I love the books by Sophie Kinsella. She's the author of the Shopaholic books. I think they are cute and light.

As for your Dr. appointment questions, I have no idea. We also didn't do an autopsy. I haven't even looked into getting his medical records. *sigh*

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Have a wonderful trip.

  4. If you need a good belly laugh try Janet Evanovich and her series. They are all numbered. I think she is up to 14 now, but the earliest ones are the best. She is laugh out loud funny. It's light and easy to read.

  5. I was going to recommend Sophie Kinsella's books too! I read 'Can You Keep a Secret?' and loved it. 'Remember Me' is really good too. I just read that at the beach myself...
I hope you have a fantastic time at the beach.

My heart goes out to you about the doctor's appointment tomorrow. I would ask about all the clotting disorders- if you could get tested for all the antibodies and genetic disorders that cause clotting. Also about monitoring and maybe hospital monitoring at the end? I would LOVE to be hospitalized for the last few weeks of pregnancy- constantly hooked up to a heartbeat monitor and get non stress tests all the time! That's just me, though...
I am praying for you tomorrow, Tonya.

    love you friend,

  8. Tonya-
Glad other have suggested books - I just can't think of anything light and humorous. Guess that tells you what I've been reading lately.

As for the doctor's appointment, I don't have any specific ?s that I think you should ask, but I wanted to make you aware of Dr. Jason Collins who is in Louisiana. He works solely with preventing stillbirth of people who have had a previous stillbirth. He may be able to
"diagnose" something based on u/s reports and just your remembrances of occurences during pregnancy. He runs the pregnancy institute (www.preginst.org) or it might be .com. I will warn you, there are some very difficult visuals on the site, so look around carefully. Just something to think about. I still struggle with the idea that a stillbirth can happen again. Maybe I'm being naive, maybe I'm just protecting my mental state, I don't know. There's really nothing that's done by Dr. Collins until later in pregnancy anyway. I'll be praying you all have a safe and HAPPY vacation!
    Love,
    Rachel

  9. Tonya,
Unfortunately, I don't have any real suggestions for you. My brain is fried. I just want you to know that I will be praying for you as you meet with the Dr. I will pray that he is able to give you some solid advice and answers. Praying for you friend. I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
